Instructions for Coaches
THE EVELYN GATES AWARD BALLOT (To be completed by head varsity volleyball coach only)
The Evelyn Gates Award is an award for the top female high school varsity volleyball player in the Kansas City area. That player should exhibit these three qualities: skill, spirit, and sportsmanship. Please submit the names of four student-athletes who fit these qualities.
1. Nominations for this award will be accepted from high school varsity head coaches from (to be announced).
2. Coaches will submit the names of four varsity athletes and their school name. (Only the name of one player can be submitted from your team.) Please rank your nominations in order from 1-4 with 1 being the top athlete. In case of a tie, the player receiving the most #1 votes will be chosen.
3. All votes will be tabulated and the top four players (with their stats) will be posted on this website on October 29th.
4. Coaches will then be asked to vote again ranking each player with a number 1, 2, 3, or 4. Coaches must rank ALL finalists 1-4. If you do not rank all four finalists, your ballot will not be counted. The player with the lowest total wins the award. Final votes will be accepted until midnight on (to be announced).
5. The award which includes a traveling trophy and a $500 stipend to the school's athletic department will be awarded on Nov.8th at the conclusion of the KS-MO State Volleyball Tournament Series.
6. Send your nominees one of two ways: Send by FAX on a school letterhead with your signature to #(816) 361-1708 OR send from a school e-mail address including your name to mdahnke@msn.com.
